“FOR HE THAT SOWETH TO HIS FLESH SHALL OF THE FLESH REAP CORRUPTION; BUT HE THAT SOWETH TO THE SPIRIT SHALL OF THE SPIRIT REAP EVERLASTING LIFE.” Galatians 6:8.

I emerged from my sleep this morning after a most unusual dream in which I found myself bang in the middle of a boogie. The life and soul of the party, ‘He’s got to funk, She’s got to funk.’, I screamed until my voice almost became coarse. As good a throwback to my late teens and twenties as any.

I dare anyone to listen to Positive Force in their dream and wake up in a melancholic state. Well, I didn’t. If anything, thanks to YouTube, the first thing I did in my woken state this morning was to play the track ad infinitum. ‘We all gotta funk.’, ringing all over the house at the crack of dawn, it was a classic case of our husband has gone made again! Incidentally, a very good book by Ola Rotimi – Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again.

Talking about reading, after flying through Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus over Christmas; and now half way through her magnum opus, Half of a Yellow Sun, in the past week, I have at best merely snacked at my Bible.

And although my faith is not the sort that has ever stopped me from having the occasional glass of wine with a good meal, it is curious, is it not, that, my very first act this year was to down almost a glass full of sherry!

Worried lately about not becoming a religious freak, I fear that I am in mortal danger of doing a Demas. Now, how did Apostle Paul describe the plight of one of the early leaders of the church? “Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this world.” 2 Timothy 4:10. Sobering.

Even more sobering is the statement of Paul at the very top of this blog. While not advocating against the need to live life in balance; God knows the world already has its fair share of religious extremists. Nevertheless, since God is ultimately a Spirit, and  most of us delight in reminding Him we are His children (Romans 8:14), reining in the flesh this season is really the moral of my little tale.

And on the subject of Positive Force, what better force than the Holy Spirit; the Helper Who comes highly recommended by no other than Jesus Christ Himself. John 16:5-16. He is indeed The Positive Force. Amen. Amen.

Brethren, Happy New Year! Tone, Making Christ Known. Romans 1:16
